What is a women's fraternity/sorority anyway?
Women's fraternities (or sororities as they are more commonly known) are national or international sisterhoods with chapters at accredited colleges and universities across Canada and the United States. Sororities offer young women the opportunity for lifetime learning and personal development in a positive environment.

Over 10,000 women have made Greek Life their choice in Winnipeg! Join today!

How does Greek life benefit me?
Many college women seek something more than just classes and casual friends - it's fun, laughter, and lifelong memories! Fraternity membership, beginning as a part of college life, provides for the opportunity of lifetime learning and involvement. Membership in a fraternity also gives young women a chance to develop their skills that will prepare them for their future. Young or old, fraternity members find a built in support network of like minded individuals when moving to a new community.

Benefits of membership include having an opportunity for leadership training, potential to develop, gain a circle of close friends, scholastic support, community service, travel, and most importantly, fun. No other campus organization can offer the depth and breadth of opportunities and activities, and none other can make our campus so friendly and welcoming.

How do I join? You participate in "Recruitment" .......
The process of getting to know women’s fraternities on campus is called "RUSH" or "RECRUITMENT." Recruitment lets you learn more about fraternity life and to decide if membership is for you. Formal Recruitment is an organized, structured set of activities, where all fraternities recruit members at the same time. These activities are usually held over a 1 to 1.5 week period, which is probably where the old name "rush" came from! You will have the opportunity to visit each women’s fraternity and become acquainted with current members.

All women at the Universities of Manitoba and Winnipeg are welcome to participate in Recruitment, regardless of your program, campus/college or year in school.

Missed Formal Recruitment? You can still join!
The U of M/W Informal Recruitment begins October 1st - each group will have various events for you to come out and see what they are all about!  Click here to register on-line

I missed Formal Recruitment - can I still get involved?
If you are not able to make it out to Formal Recruitment, but are still interested in "going Greek", you can also get to know each group on a more casual basis throughout the school year. This process is called Informal Recruitment.

Informal recruitment does not have the same structured schedule as Formal Recruitment, but it does provide the same opportunity to meet and get to know current members. Contact the Panhellenic Adviser for more info or register on-line.
